Items in the sale included photographs by Mapplethorpe and George Platt Lynes, colorized
drawings by Sadao Hasegawa, and a painting by Gilbert Lewis. A lot of LGBTQ ephemera was also included.
Even though it was labeled LGBTQ+, the vast majority of works were male homoerotic, again including some striking pieces from the Leslie-Lohman Museum collection as they continue to sell off some of their homoerotic art.
Without question, the amounts realized show a strong demand for male homoerotic work. In fact, it seems that the more homoerotic, the more interest there was in the piece.
